Using drones will become easier: why and in what cases

Starting February 12, 2020, the procedure for using “unmanned aerial vehicles” is simplified, which includes, for example, quadrocopters and drones. In a new blog on ITMO . NEWS Eugenia Normark, 1st category legal adviser at the Department of Legal Support in Economics and Finance at ITMO University, explains when and under what conditions it will be easier to use drones.   In accordance with the new rules, quadrocopter flights no longer require the presentation of a flight plan, obtaining permission to use airspace, establishing temporary, local modes and short-term restrictions. However, such permissions are not necessary only if the following conditions are met: the maximum take-off weight of the quadrocopter should not exceed 30 kg, the external pilot maintains direct visual contact with the quadrocopter, and does not follow it with the help of instruments (the so-called “visual flight of an unmanned aircraft”), the flight is carried out within line of sight in daylight at altitudes of less than 150 meters from the earth or water surface in airspace, The flight should not be made within: Dispatch zones of civil aviation aerodromes, areas of aerodromes (heliports) of state and experimental aviation, airspace above the venues of public events, official sporting events, as well as security events held …

Without stress: how to turn a job search into a game?

Without stress: how to turn a job search into a game? Regardless of whether you are a student, graduate or a person with vast work experience, finding a job is a difficult task for everyone. The topic of finding a job and going through all the stages is one of the most popular: you can find millions of articles on the web, but we will not retell them here. To begin, let’s look at the attitude towards job search. As a rule, this is super-stress, the possibility of which is so frightening that many do not dare to find the job of their dreams … And in vain! Today we will try to show that everything is not so scary and much depends on the mood, desire and perception. And also share the chips that they themselves have used more than once. Career events at ITMO University There is no doubt that the job search itself is a full-fledged job in itself. Every day is a recurring, debilitating, and, worst of all, sometimes absolutely futile process. It seems that you are walking in a vicious circle? We offer to go back one step, rethink and look at a different angle on the whole process. To be easier …

Study and work: how to find the right balance

As a rule, many of the student ‘s ITMO University begin to combine work and training already in the first year. How do they succeed, what advantages do they see in this experience and what difficulties do they face? We decided to discuss all this with our hero today, 1st year student of the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics Bekoy Mikaya. Beka not only copes with the training load, but also manages to conquer new career heights, working in a large international IT company . Please tell us a little about yourself, why did you decide to combine study with work? Hello! I introduce myself again, my name is Beck. For the fifth year now, I am studying at ITMO and at the same time I am looking for myself. As it turned out, when you grow up, you have to answer for your expenses yourself during the search. Therefore, at one point, I decided to find a job. Was it scary to start the search? Were there any guidelines: what to do, how to do, where to go? Having filtered, compressed and rethought all the accumulated knowledge, experience, hobbies and just your desires, it turned out to cook up some resume. Next, I decided on a list of companies that interest …

Top List Country ranking in AI research 2020

BERLIN taz | Research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) has reached a peak and is currently booming like no other field of science. The number of scientific AI publications has increased on average by around 12 percent annually in the past five years (2013 to 2017), according to a study by the science publisher Elsevier . In the previous five years, growth was just under 5 percent. In 2017, more than 60,000 AI research papers were published worldwide, compared to just under 10,000 in 1998. The research location China has an increasingly large share in them. It is now 24 percent, ahead of the USA (17 percent) and behind Europe, which is the strongest AI research region with 30 percent, but decreasing: 20 years ago, it was 35 percent. In the country ranking, China is in third place ahead of the USA and rising star India. Germany comes sixth behind Japan. 600,000 documents and more than 700 AI-specific keywords from the four areas of research, education, technology, and media were evaluated for the Elsevier study. The combination of “extensive text mining and semantic literature analysis” is “currently the most comprehensive analysis of existing AI research,” said Enrico Motta, professor of knowledge technologies at the Open University in Great Britain and co-author of the report. “We basically …

Alexa’s human ears 2020 New Technology

New jobs at Amazon: Alexa’s human ears Temporary workers in Poland help to improve Alexa’s speech recognition. These jobs are not without problems.   Don’t be rude to Alexa – a real person might hear youPhoto: ap Did you ever get loud when Alexa didn’t do what you wanted? If it is only a device, you will think, but nothing there. Because, as several media reports show, Google , Apple and Amazon employ human employees to improve their speech recognition. They listen to and record transcriptions of the voice commands. So one or the other curse that you directed Alexa might have already been transcribed. This not only raises questions about data protection : the evaluation of records by people is another example of how work is changing through digitization and machine learning. The good news: digitization not only eats jobs, it also creates new ones. But what are these jobs? As research by the Welt am Sonntag revealed Amazon employs temporary workers * inside in Poland for the evaluation of the recordings. The company Randstad Poland had job vacancies online until Friday, in which Polish employees with German language skills were looked for on the mother tongue level. It is reasonable to assume that Amazon would like to save. This would of course not make Amazon the first company to …

Now In 2020 Federal government monitors AI

Artificial Intelligence Observatory:Federal government monitors AI The Ministry of Labor is planning an “AI observatory” to regulate artificial intelligence. She does not yet know exactly how that should work.   Artificial intelligence is used in self-driving carsPhoto: Volvo / dpa / picture alliance BERLIN taz | She is behind the automatic translation of texts and chatbots in customer service , learns as a speaking digital assistant and always causes debates: artificial intelligence (AI). The trendy term primarily means machine learning and self-learning algorithms , i.e. systems that identify patterns based on large data sets and solve problems independently. In order to investigate the effects of technology on society and the labor market, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) has filled the first eight positions of an “AI observatory” in the think tank “Digital Labor Society ” in the BMAS. It should start this year. In itself, AI applications are nothing new in everyday life , but apparently they are for the BMAS. It suggests that “first develop a regulatory framework for AI”, as a spokeswoman puts it. Among other things, the aim is to clarify how data protection for employees and how people can be trained. Susanne Dehmel, member of the Legal and Security Executive Board of the Bitkom industry association , is generally positive about observing the use of AI …

The focus is on research on data management and machine learning. “We need more scientists who are bilingual, i.e. machine learning and big data ‘speak’”, explains Klaus-Robert Müller, head of the Bifold. So far, the institutes had dealt with the issues separately. “Personally, I am convinced that there are opportunities in AI to change the world for the better,” said Federal Minister of Education and Research, Anja Karliczek (CDU), on Wednesday at the launch of the project at Salzufer in Charlottenburg. She wanted to make the 1920s a “decade for education, research, and innovation”. Germany should play a pioneering role worldwide. Karliczek believes that bifold aims to focus on research of AI systems along with ethical issues regarding it. …
